Grupo Coviñas is the leading winery in the Utiel-Requena Denominación de Origen (DO), holding over 41% of the total land under vine.
We are a secondary cooperative (one that includes other cooperatives) established in Requena in the 1960s when the winegrowers of the 10 cooperatives in the region joined forces to harness their sales strength and optimize the market availability of their high quality wines.
Coviñas, representing over 3,000 farmers within the cooperative collective, supports fair trade for our members, along with the core values of democracy, equality and solidarity as the basis for a successful business model and as a driver of the economy as a whole.
There are ten cooperatives within Coviñas: Los Isidros, Requena, La Portera, Roma, Las Monjas, San Antonio, Campo Arcís, Villargordo, Barrio Arroyo and Los Duques.
Our Requena winery uses the latest technology to produce the highest quality wines and Cavas.
We have a giant storage vault measuring 3,500 m2, officially opened in 2003 by the president of the Valencian regional government, the Generalitat Valenciana. It has room for some 10,000 oak casks. We also have a bottle cellaring area with a capacity of a million bottles, with automated humidity and temperature control so that our oak-aged “crianzas” and “reservas” can age further in optimum conditions.
Coviñas also has state-of-the-art laboratories and tasting rooms, with the most sophisticated technology currently available, which in tandem with our winemakers’ quest for constant improvement and keeping up to date, ensure that our wines express their own distinctive character and acknowledged quality. We carry out the most thorough process of quality control throughout each winemaking stage for every wine: from the grapes on the vines, to harvesting, followed by the winemaking itself, and followed by ageing in cask and bottling.
Our winery is certified and controlled under demanding quality and food safety standards such as BRC and IFS Food.

From the outset, Bodegas Coviñas has enjoyed national and international success. Our wines have earned prestige across a wide range of different markets, where their quality is widely acknowledged and appreciated.
This is confirmed by the many awards that have been achieved, in both international and Spanish competitions, including the Challenge International du Vin in Bordeaux, the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, the International Wine Challenge (IWC), the Decanter World Wine Awards, the International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC), and in Spain the Zarcillo Awards, the Bacchus Awards, the Mezquita Prizes and the Manojo Prizes, among others.
Today, we are proud to have the widest distribution network in the Valencia region. Even so, we are primarily an outward-looking business, exporting around 80% of what we produce, to some thirty different countries.
Nevertheless, we work tirelessly to improve our plant and equipment, to introduce carefully selected new varieties and to nurture the reputation of our range of wines, while always being careful to keep them distinctive and distinguished.
