Coviñas wines have won 5 medals at Asia’s largest competition, the Asia Wine Trophy. With over 4,300 wines entered each year, it is the only competition sponsored by the OIV in Asia, in which more than 140 international judging panels taste and assess wines from more than 34 countries. Also, at the competition every year, experts from the main importing countries in Asia highlight the quality and expertise of this wine competition.
To detail Coviñas’ success, one gold medal went to Marqués de Verdellano Reserva 2017, a serious red wine made from selected Tempranillo, Bobal, Cabernet Sauvignon and Garnacha grapes. Ruby red in colour with flashes of violet, this distinguished red wine combines the freshness of the fruit with elegant oak.
The Marques de Verdellano Crianza 2018 was also awarded a gold medal. This cherry-red blend of Bobal and Tempranillo is all velvety smoothness in the mouth supported by good structure.
Both of these wines are aimed at the export market. As such, this international award confirms their reputation and underlines the interest aroused in this market by these two DOP Utiel-Requena quality red wines.
The Coviñas wines that won silver medals at the Asia Wine Trophy were the red Marqués de Verdellano Gran Reserva 2015, meaning that the entire Marqués de Verdellano range won medals, the white Villa de Adnos Macabeo 2020, and the red Requevin Gran Reserva 2015. These awards confirm once again the appeal of the region’s native grape varieties to the Asian market.
