VINEYARD
Grape cultivation has been part of our vine-growing tradition since the dawn of history; this tradition being passed from generation to generation as our most valuable treasure.
With an altitude ranging 600/900 metres above sea level, our region is located in a beautiful plateau watered by the River Magro. In this area, the soil has a perfect balance of sand, limestone and clay.
Our area has good thermic oscillation – hot days and cool night – due to the Mediterranean breeze, which produces a slow ripening of our grapes, good aroma concentration and poliphenols.
The fact that the vineyards are cultivated in a traditional way and in unirrigated land determines their yield. Only the ripe and balanced bunches of grapes are harvested, these qualities are later passed on to our wines.

OUR GRAPES
More than 10,000 hectares – about 40% of the vineyards of the Utiel-Requena mark of origin – are cultivated by our viticultors, who are grouped in 10 cooperatives making up the COVIÑAS GROUP.
The varieties best adapted to our vineyards give exceptional personality. We would like to highlight the following:
BOBAL: This is our native grape variety par excellence.
It produces red wines with good colour and tannin and moderate acidity. It also produces excellent rosés.
The wine displays classic notes of strawberry and cherry, with a hint of freshness and balsamic aromas derived from its natural acidity endowing it with power and longevity. A perfect combination of barrel and bottle ageing creates excellent wines for laying down.
TEMPRANILLO: An internationally recognized variety, and one of the finest red varieties. Wines are intense and of high quality. It is well suited for crianzas.
MACABEO: This white grape produces pale and fruity wines with fine and round aromas. It is the basis for our cavas.
Other varieties grown in our vineyards are: GARNACHA, CABERNET SAUVIGNON, MERLOT and SYRAH, for our red wines, and CHARDONNAY for white wines.
