Coviñas’ commitment to its natural and social environment has a twofold objective: to adapt our activity in response to climate change and to reduce our carbon footprint.

To move forward down this path, we have set ourselves objectives based on sustainable practices across all aspects of our activity (winegrowing, production, sales and distribution), as well as taking the initiative in programmes that help regenerate and improve our environment.

COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES

Organic Agriculture

20% of our vineyard is already certified as organic. The intention is to gradually make the entire 10,000 ha holding organic.

Adaptive agriculture

To protect the fruit from the global rise in temperature, we are adapting the vine training system, the planting frame and the choice of rootstock.

Renewable Energy

35% of our consumption comes from renewable sources, including the energy generated by our solar photovoltaic system, and our oak-ageing vaults are based on Eco Architecture principles to create a cave effect.

Eco-design

We use lightweight bottles and ensure that our labels and packaging are made from recycled materials or come from PEFC- and FSC-certified forests.

Commitment

Our sustainable and environmentally friendly products guarantee this legacy for future generations, as we preserve and protect what is essential while continuing to be the economic engine of the entire territory.

Sustainable Agriculture

We currently use pheromone diffusers to control the grapevine moth. This sexual confusion technique is effective, simple and avoids any risk of chemical residues in the vineyard.

Reduction of CO2 emissions

We are constantly renewing our installations, replacing older machinery with newer equipment that consumes less energy, such as hybrids or electric apparatus. New technology has enabled the holding of virtual meetings, reducing the number of sales trips required.

Recycling

We separate out the materials used in production, such as glass, cardboard and plastic, and recycle them by means of specific recycling programmes developed in conjunction with our suppliers.

Native Varieties

We work on the recovery and identification of native and ancestral grape varieties as a source of learning and differentiation and as a guarantee of the future of our vineyards in the face of climate change.

3,000 Families

Generation after generation have built a legacy for the generations still to come. We are proud of our people and our territory. Let’s move forward together.

AULA

The AULA range of wines aims to mark a turning point in our history at a time when it is imperative to protect what is essential,
and for Coviñas the essential has always been the people who have tended and toiled the land and have built a legacy for the generations yet to come.

Aula is conceived as a source of knowledge for all these generations, it is nature itself, which has been nurturing essential, time-honoured values within us down the years.
These 3,000 families have worked in harmony with nature, respecting its cycles, valuing its diversity and creating an AULA (classroom in Spanish) of knowledge, which it is our duty to respect and cherish.
