We are committed to a model based on the social,
economic and environmental improvement of our territory.

Because defending our wine culture entails defending our traditions,
our land and our people.

At Grupo Coviñas we are committed to
quality and respect for the land,
our growers and the environment.

All for the good of our wines,
which are our heritage and an intrinsic part of our identity.

Our technical director, together with the team of winemakers
and the representatives of each winery within the group,
establish the criteria for selecting the fruit
used to make each of our wines.
This guarantees that the wines maintain
both their own style and a high level of quality.

PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION

Coviñas is the leading wine producer in the Utiel Requena Denomination of Origin and our wines are enjoyed in over 30 countries.

We have a total annual bottling capacity of over 40 million bottles across five production lines.

3,500 m2 of storage capacity, a warehouse for 10,000 barrels and a bottle rack for aging
with controlled temperature and humidity and enough racks to accommodate the load of 50 regular stock trucks.

QUALITY CONTROL THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS

We hold the demanding international quality and food safety certificates according to regulations:
IFS and BRC as well as the Vlabel and Valencian Community Organic Agriculture Committee seals.

V-Label is the seal that Coviñas has trusted to identify its wines suitable for vegan and vegetarian consumption.
This seal belongs to a company based in Switzerland and whose trademark, registered in 1996, is recognized in 27 countries.

V-Label is a simple and reliable point of reference to allow the consumer to make a decision on the basis of his or her philosophy.

The Organic Agriculture Committee of the Valencia Region is the regulating authority that provides the official guarantee of the Generalitat, the regional parliament, certifying organic agri-food products of plant or animal origin, processed or otherwise, produced in the Valencia Region.

It has been accredited by ENAC since 2012, which validates this certification beyond Valencia, allowing it to be recognised in the world’s main markets.

TERRITORY AND GRAPES

We are located in Requena, Valencia, a region with a long history of producing and selling quality wines.

Our territory is extensive and varied.
Utiel-Requena stretches over a wide plateau between 600 and 900 metres above sea level.

It has a continental climate with Mediterranean influences.
The soils are primarily clay and the average annual rainfall is 383 mm, with 2,800 hours of sunshine.

By virtue of the altitude, there is a large contrast between daytime and night-time temperatures,
which encourages optimum fruit ripening,
as well as guaranteeing the high levels of acidity that are essential
for the production of balanced wines.

OLD VINES

We hold more than 10,000 hectares of land under vine, much of which consists of old vines, including some of the oldest vines in Spain that are still productive, at more than 100 years of age.

From these vines we make such special wines as Adnos Bobal Singular and the Veterum range, the latter including a Bobal and a Macabeo from very old vineyard plots of bush vines that are harvested by hand.

ORGANIC FARMING

20% of our vineyard is already certified as organic. A combination of the climate and geographic location of our plots means our winegrowing is based by definition on minimal intervention.

We currently use pheromone diffusers to control the grapevine moth. This sexual confusion technique is effective, simple and avoids any risk of chemical residues in the vineyard.

NATIVE GRAPE VARIETIES

OTHER VARIETIES

Chardonnay

Benefiting from our height above sea level and the temperature contrast, it offers good levels of acidity to produce high-quality Cavas, such as:
Aula Reserva Brut Nature
.

Cabernet
Sauvignon

We tend to grow our Cabernet using the trellis system to ensure full ripening and so obtain wines with an interesting tannic depth that then form part of the blend in
Enterizo Reserva
and Enterizo Gran Reserva.

Sauvignon
Blanc

Planted on some of our most nutrient-poor soils, this variety produces wines with distinct personality, great aromatic intensity and intense tropical notes, part of the blend in:
Aula Macabeo Sauvignon Blanc.

Merlot

These vines are located on the highest ground and trained on trellises to encourage early ripening and good tannic balance. The resulting wines generally undergo relatively lengthy ageing in cask, as with:
Aula Merlot
and Aula Crianza.

Verdejo

This popular variety is perfectly adapted to our soil, which is nutrient-poor, and to our continental climate, producing highly aromatic wines that are full-bodied, lush and smooth with good acidity, such as:
Aula Verdejo
.

Syrah

The vineyards planted with this variety benefit from clay soils with a top layer of gravel that allows optimal ripening of the fruit with which we make full-bodied, round and elegant wines such as:
A de Autor Syrah.
