His background as a winemaker and agricultural technician, with over 16 years’ experience in the sector, gives him a thorough understanding of and vision for the sector.

The challenges of the new position include the management of Bobal Wine Cellars, the bulk division that brings to market more than 80 million litres per year.

The Coviñas Board appoints Jorge Srougi General Manager of the Coviñas Group and Bobal Wine Cellars, the largest bulk wine operator in the Valencian Community autonomous region.

His background as a winemaker and agricultural technician gives him a thorough understanding of and vision for the sector. Additionally, over 16 years’ experience in the sector, 6 of these within the company, gives him extensive knowledge of the more than 10,000 hectares of land that Coviñas maintains, as well as the more than 3,000 winegrowing families that constitute the group and are the economic engine of the region

For this reason, when the Coviñas Board of Directors was considering the profile of the ideal candidate for the position, it was important that he or she should understand the business from within. But the management of such a complex business requires other essential qualities, such as team management and commercial planning, an aspect in which Jorge also has wide experience in the sector, having worked in the commercial teams of a range of wineries in the Valencian Community.

Since joining the Coviñas Group in 2017, as Export Manager and later as Deputy Commercial Director, he has demonstrated his commitment both in the areas of commercial management and planning, with excellent measurable results, and also in the implementation of overall improvements and technological updating of the company, impressing the Board of Governors, who have chosen Jorge in recognition of his quietly efficient work.

Among the new challenges that Jorge will face in Coviñas is the management of Bobal Wine Cellars, the bulk division that is responsible for the marketing of more than 80 million litres per year, making it the largest bulk wine operation in the Valencian Community.

Jorge enthusiastically welcomes this vote of confidence and professional challenge. In the words of the new General Manager of Coviñas “it is an honour for me to take on this new challenge, one I look forward to with great enthusiasm and into which I will put every effort and all my professional experience so as to consolidate the position that each of the families that are part of this project deserves to enjoy; the people who, with their daily labour, make it grow day by day while working in harmony with the environment and projecting an image of the territory that is true to its time-honoured values.”
